Readme file for JabpLite version 1.15
=====================================

1. Programs for your mobile device
----------------------------------

a) If you have a MIDP2.0 mobile device then install the file JabpLite.jar in the MIDP2.0 folder
b) If you have a MIDP2.0 mobile device which is Bluetooth-enabled from Java (ie. runs JSR-82), then you can also install JabpBT.jar in the MIDP2.0 folder.
c) If you have a MIDP2.0 mobile device which has File Connectivity from Java (ie. runs JSR-75), then you can also install JabpFile.jar in the MIDP2.0 folder.

Some devices do not display icons correctly (eg. Symbian UIQ devices), so by default there is no icon included in the jar file. If you want to install the icon (not MIDP1.0) then do the following:

a) Rename JabpLite.jar to JabpLite.zip.
b) Create a directory 'icons' and copy JabpLite.png there
c) Rename JabpLite.zip to JabpLite.jar
d) Install JabpLite.jar

A version of JabpLite for MIDP1.0 devices is available from http://www.freepoc.org. A version of JabpFile for the Sun MIDP Emulator is also available from http://www.freepoc.org.

2. Program for your PC
----------------------

If you are using the JabpBT Bluetooth connectivity software then copy the file JabpBT.jar from the J2SE folder to any convenient directory on your PC. Follow the further instructions in the JabpBTreadme.htm file.

3. Known problems
-----------------

a) JabpLite is over 100K in size. On some older phones the maximum size for a Midlet is 64K, and these phones won't run the program. However most new Java-enabled high-end phones should be able to run JabpLite.

b) Symbian phones such as the Sony Ericsson P800/P900/P910, the Nokia 6600/7610 etc do not centre the font correctly. Workaround: set Preferences>Font Adjustment to 2 or 3.

c) The Sony Ericsson P800 does not display the screen height correctly. Workaround: set Preferences>Height Adjustment to 29.

d) There are some bugs in the Java runtime on the Nokia 6600. Consequently it is not possible to cancel certain dialog screens in JabpLite. Workaround: close JabpLite and then re-open the program.

e) JabpLite will run on the Nokia 9300/9500 but it is very slow. JabpBT does not run on these devices (I don't know why). JabpFile does run OK however.

I hope you find the programs useful.
